A muchos de vosotros, como a mí, os pasará que viviendo en una ciudad como Madrid aspirar a un piso grande es prácticamente imposible y tenemos que hacer maravillas con el espacio.
Yo vivo en un piso muy pequeñito pero que me tiene enamorada, he aprendido a sacar mucho partido al espacio y no es ningún trauma para mí. En mi caso la localización es importante y además al tener una terraza y buenas vistas cuando se me queda algo pequeña la casa salgo cinco minutos a que me dé el aire y se me pasa.
Una de las cosas que he aprendido es a valorar las cocinas independientes. Esta muy de moda unir la cocina al salón, sobretodo si tienes poco espacio, queda ideal y además todo parece más amplio.
Yo tengo cocina unida al salón y creedme si os digo que es super incómodo. Yo no soy una persona que cocine mucho, y menos mal, pero cuando tengo épocas que tengo que cocinar para llevar una alimentación sana y controlada el no poder aislar la cocina del resto de la casa es un problema. Hay que cerrar las puertas de todas las estancias para que el olor no entre y a pesar de eso el salón se ve invadido por olor a comida. Personalmente es una cosa que no soporto, y mucho menos cuando tengo que cocinar pescado, me pone de muy mal humor y al final descuido mi alimentación.

Many of you, like me, will find that living in a city like Madrid and aspire to a big flat is practically impossible and we have to do magic with space.
I live in a very small apartment but I am in love with it, I've learned to take advantage of space and it is not a trauma for me. For me location is important and also to have a terrace and good views helps because when I feel the house too small I go out five minutes to take some air and the feeling blows away.
One of the things I have learned is to value an independent kitchen. It is very fashionable to join the kitchen to the living room, especially if you have little space, it is cute and also everything is more spacious.
I have a kitchen attached to the living room and believe me when I tell you that it's very uncomfortable. I'm not a person who cooks a lot, and thank goodness for that, but when I have to cook to have a healthy and controlled diet, not being able to isolate the kitchen from the rest of the house is a problem. You have to close the doors of all the rooms so that the smell does not enter and in spite of that the living room is invaded by the food smell. Personally it is something I can't stand, especially when I have to cook fish.
Una buena solución para este problema me parece hacer la cocina unida al salón pero separándola con un vidrio. La sensación de espacialidad se mantiene y puedes independizarla en determinados momentos. Para la foto de revista es maravilloso tener una bonita cocina unida al salón, pero para vivir una casa día a día se hace complicado si eres una persona que cocina, aunque sea poco.
Tengo una serie de ejemplos de cocinas "unidas pero divididas", "juntas pero no revueltas", como lo queráis llamar, que me han encantado y que con un buen diseño de carpintería pueden quedar preciosas. Espero que os inspiren.

A good solution to this problem seems to make the kitchen joined to the living room but separated with a glass. The spatiality feeling stays and you can make it independent at certain times. For the magazine photo it is wonderful to have a nice kitchen attached to the living room but to live a house day by day, it becomes complicated if you are a person who cooks, even if it is a little.

Se pueden hacer varias opciones dependiendo del presupuesto:

Una carpintería limpia de vidrio con hojas grandes correderas o plegables/ A clean glass carpentry with large sliding or folding doors.
Una carpintería fija con una puerta abatible/ a fixed carpentry with a hinged door.
Y otra opción es un múrete ciego y fijo hasta una altura y vidrio en la parte superior de manera que a la altura de la vista el espacio esté unido/ a fixed wall up to a height and glass on top so that at eye level the space is joined.
Todas las opciones quedan genial y se puede conseguir una cocina con mucha luz y un espacio amplio dando continuidad visual con las estancias separadas.
