LONDON TRAVEL GUIDE | DAY 1| SKY BAR, ONE NEW CHANGE, BRITISH MUSEUM & COVENT GARDEN

LOCATION: London, UK

I WAS WEARING: Chicwish top | Zara pants | Converse all star sneakers | Forever 21 hat | Mango bag

We arrived in London on a Wednesday at midnight, we had rented a nice apartment in a neighborhood quite away from the center but very well connected. In the morning, my first contact with the city, we went to have breakfast to a spectacular place that I recommend if you have not been there: The Sky Garden, an interior garden on the top of a skyscraper with spectacular 360º views over the city. You have to book like a month before and I it's better to go early. We had the table booked at 9 a.m. and when we arrived there were a few people so we could walk through the garden and have breakfast quietly, but the open terrace was closed. When we finished breakfast, it began to fill up and they opened the terrace. When leaving the line was endless, so we did well to get up early despite being tired by the trip.

When we finished breakfast we went around the City, as it was Thursday it was full of people coming and going to their jobs so we saw it booming. I loved this area. I was very excited especially to see two buildings that I had studied and I knew them very well, the Gherkin by Norman Foster and the LLoyd's by Richard Rogers.

The Gherkin surprised me for good. It is true that when I had seen pictures of the skyline I did not know if it convinced me, I saw it with a strange shape, but it is true what they said, it works very well on a human scale. When you go down the street, the contact of the building with the ground is very beautiful and also when you look up, as it narrows at the top, you do not see the end and it seems lower than it is, so it does not overwhelm and makes the area quite nice.

The LLoyd's made me very happy. I have studied it a thousand times as a breakthrough and iconic building of the twentieth century architecture when the high-tech movement began. This building, like the Pompidou in Paris, took the services and facilities to the façade, which was easy to maintain, and left free the interior giving many possibilities to the space.

In the area you can not miss this spot:  the One new Change shopping center rooftop, designed by the architect Jean Nouvel. It is free to access and the views of Saint Paul's Cathedral are among the best. These and the Millennium Bridge views are my favorites.

We continued with our route and we had lunch at Covent Garden, which I loved. It is a beautiful place with many options to eat, live music, super cute boutiques...

After lunch the it started to rain, so we took the opportunity to visit the British Museum where there is an exaggerated amount of historical pieces from all over the world of great value. I loved the building, it is so beautiful inside with the high central area with the glass ceiling so spacious and bright.
I have mixed feelings with this museum. I felt terrible about the wonders exposed in this museum were all there decontextualized: the Rosetta Stone, the discovolo, the Moai of Easter Island, the Katebet mummy, part of the Parthenon frieze and missing sculptures in Greece, complete Greek temples, Inca treasures. .. And I was very sorry that they were not in their places of origin. On the other hand, if they were not in this museum, they would not exist today ... I do not know, weird.

Then we went through the Soho area that I loved, the giant m&ms store and we had dinner in a very cool Indian but I was so tired that I could not take more photos. We walked that day about 20kmafter a short night so my mind and my body was no longer available. It was an intense day, I loved it. I was freaking out with the city in general, everything seemed beautiful to me. It surprised me a lot, I did not expect that I would like it that much.
