HOTEL SOL Y LUNA | PERU TRAVEL GUIDE

El hotel es una auténtica delicia. Teníamos dos días allí y el primer día decidimos relajarnos y quedarnos en el hotel a disfrutarlo porque merecía la pena.

Visitamos las instalaciones de la mano de Ichiro, que se portó súper bien con nosotros durante toda la estancia. Primero os voy a contar el recorrido por las instalaciones y después la peculiaridad de este hotel que me enamoró.

We spent two beautiful days in the Sacred Valley area at the Sol y Luna Hotel, a complex with 43 lovely "casitas" in a spectacular setting with a huge vegetation. We were so lucky to be able to enjoy one of its beautiful houses, the facilities and, and above all, the most important thing, we were able to see first hand the philosophy of the hotel and the social project where it is involved.

The hotel is extremely delightful. We spent two days there and the first day we decided to relax and stay there to enjoy it because it was worth it.

We visited the all the complex with Ichiro, who was so nice with us during the entire stay. First of all I will give you a walk around the  hotel and then I'll tell you about its peculiarity and whay I felt in love with.

INSTALACIONES 

Como he comentado, tiene 43 casitas todas ellas con terraza y acceso a un jardín precioso lleno de flores, plantas y cactus, desde donde se ven las montañas de Valle Sagrado. La villa por dentro es espectacular, con una cama king size y chimenea para las noches frías. Estuvimos súper a gusto. El baño me encantó, me pareció muy cómodo y precioso. Un detalle que nos encantó es que cuando entramos a la habitación estaba la música y las luces encendidas, fue un recibimiento muy especial.

FACILITIES

It has 43 small houses all of them with an exterior terrace and access to a beautiful garden full of flowers, plants and cactus, surrounded by the the Sacred Valley mountains. The villa inside is spectacular, with a king size bed and a fireplace for cold nights. We were super comfortable there. I loved the toilet, I found it very comfortable and beautiful. The detail we loved was when we entered the room the music and the lights were on, it was a very special reception.

La zona de la piscina es mi favorita. Es una construcción más reciente y de estilo moderno que, aunque no tenga el encanto tradicional de las casitas, tiene un diseño y una decoración que me enamoró, y sobre todo por la noche era espectacular el ambiente que se creaba en el porche.

The pool area was my favorite. It is the most recent construction designed in a modern style that, although it does not have the traditional charm of the casitas, has a design and decoration that I fell in love with, and especially at night the atmosphere created on the porch was spectacular.

- El Wayra, en el que comimos uno de los días y nos encantó, está junto a los establos y pudimos ver mientras una exhibición de caballos y baile preciosa. Tiene una cocina internacional muy rica pero siempre con toques de la zona.

- The Wayra, where we had lunch one of the days and we loved it, is next to the stables and we could see while eating a beautiful horse show and a typical dance. It has a very good international cuisine, but always with flavours from the area.

Además hay una biblioteca, gimnasio (donde Miki y yo hicimos nuestra rutina de ejercicios), una escuela de cocina con clases de cocina local, y un spa precioso. Todo el complejo cuenta con obras de arte del arista local Federico, que llenan el espacio de alegría y colorido.

There is also a library, gym (where Miki and I did our workout routine), a cooking school with local cooking classes, and a beautiful spa. The whole complex has works of art from the local artist Federico, which fill the space with joy and color.

ACTIVIDADES

Tienen muchas actividades y además preparan excursiones de día a Machu Picchu. Nosotros hicimos una ruta a caballo por la zona que nunca olvidaré. Me encantó conocer los alrededores de Urubamba a caballo. Vimos la realidad de la zona y para mí fue inolvidable. Uno de los mejores momentos del viaje sin duda.

ACTIVITIES

They have many activities and also day trips to Machu Picchu. We made a ride through the area that I will never forget. I loved knowing the Urubamba surroundings by horse. We saw the reality of the area and for me it was unforgettable. One of the best moments of the trip without a doubt.

FUNDACIÓN SOL Y LUNA

Lo que más me fascinó de este hotel es la labor social que desempeñan. Con el hotel empezaron un proyecto educativo para niños locales y cuando crearon la Fundación Sol y Luna abrieron su propia escuela, el Colegio Intercultural Sol y Luna, donde actualmente estudian los hijos de los dueños, junto con 185 niños del Valle Sagrado. En esta escuela proporcionan estudios y oportunidades a niños que desgraciadamente no tienen recursos o fácil acceso a la educación o a un futuro profesional. Pero no os lo estoy contando por contar. La escuela primaria y la guardería están a escasos metros del hotel y Miki y yo estuvimos visitándolo y saludando a los alumnos que estaban en clase y conocimos de cerca la labor que hacen.

SOL Y LUNA ASSOCIATION

What really fascinated me about this hotel is the social work they do. With the hotel the owners started an educational project for local children and then created the Sol y Luna association and opened the Sol y Luna Intercultural School, where their children are currently studying there, along with 185 children from the Sacred Valley. In this school they provide studies and opportunities to children who unfortunately do not have resources or easy access to education or a professional future. But I'm not telling you this just for saying. The elementary school and the kindergarten are a few steps from the hotel and Miki and I were visiting it and meeting the students and teachers who were in class and we learnt about the work they do.

Este fue otro de los momentos que nunca jamás olvidaré.  Sol y Luna de verdad es un lugar mágico y especial que merece la pena conocer, no solo por el entorno en el que se encuentra sino por el aire que se respira, por la amabilidad de todo el personal, la buena energía que transmite y las experiencias inolvidables que se viven allí.

Millones de gracias a Petit, a quien tuvimos el honor de conocer en persona, por la oportunidad de conocer este inolvidable lugar y a Ichiro. Nos hicieron disfrutar, relajarnos y enriquecernos los días que estuvimos en Sol y Luna.

This was another moment that I will never forget. Sol y Luna really is a magical and special place that is worth knowing, not only because its location, but also because of the air that is breathed, the kindness of all the staff, the good vibes and the unforgettable experiences you can live there.
