Hace tiempo que no iba y he encontrado muchos cambios. Me gusta mucho lo que
han hecho, han mantenido el edificio original del antiguo
Matadero de Madrid, lo
han rehabilitado y han acondicionado las antiguas naves para uso cultural.
Si hay una cosa que me fascina es poder ver los desperfectos originales, hay
zonas donde se ve el ladrillo estropeado, o las pintadas en las paredes. La
fachada original va por fuera y por dentro cajas de vidrio o metálicas
definen las salas. Tiene un estilo un tanto decadente pero cuidado al detalle.
Se mantiene la esencia del edificio abandonado pero a la vez es un espacio nuevo y moderno. Los materiales industriales, las estructuras vistas...todo crea
un ambiente diferente. Es un complejo con diferentes ámbitos: biblioteca, sala
de exposiciones, un pequeño teatro, cafeterías, espacios para
conciertos...Además ésta vez que no hacía tanto calor como el verano pasado. No
me derretí cruzando la enorme explanada que lleva al
edificio 16...en julio y
agosto mueres en el intento.
I’ve not been there since so long and found many changes. I really like what
they have done keeping the original building of the old slaughterhouse of
Madrid. The old building has been rehabilitated and conditioning for cultural
use.
If there is one thing that fascinates me is the posibility of seeing the
original damage, there are areas where the brick is broken, or you can seen the
painted on the walls. The original facade is on the outside and inside there
are glass or metal boxes defining the rooms. The style is somewhat decadent but
care to detail. It maintains the essence of the abandoned building but it is
definitely a new and modern building. Industrial materials, the structures seen
... all creates a different atmosphere. It is a complex with a lot of areas:
library, an exhibition hall, a small theater, cafes, concert spaces ... Also
this time was not as hot as last summer when I melted crossing the vast
esplanade that leads to the building 16. In July and August you can die in the
attempt.
