LOCATION: Centro Niemeyer, Avilés. Asturias
Fui a pasar unos días a Gijón para ver a mi
amiga Esther y no podía no ir a Avilés a ver
la única obra de Oscar Niemeyer en nuestro país.
Oscar Niemeyer es un
importante arquitecto brasileño, seguidor de Le
Corbusier, conocido por construir la ciudad de Brasilia. Es un arquitecto
que me gusta mucho por sus principios sociales, que se ven reflejados en sus
edificios.
Me gustó mucho el centro
Niemeyer, es como un espacio de luz y serenidad en medio del caos de
la ciudad. Está en una zona originalmente muy residual al lado del mar que se
limpió y adecuó para la construcción del centro y ha mejorado mucho su
entorno.
El centro tiene tres edificios
sobre una explanada blanca, el auditorio con forma de ola, la torre con forma
de árbol y la sala de exposiciones con forma de montaña.
Lo que más me gustó es el
detalle del escenario del auditorio, funciona para en interior como un
escenario normal (que cuando estás allí el espacio es super curioso) y
además el fondo, que es la pared roja exterior se levanta y se convierte en
escenario exterior para conciertos y eventos al aire libre.
Es muy curioso visitarlo porque choca mucho con la ciudad, tiene una luz especial.
Tenéis que visitarlo y si
podéis hacen una visita guiada explicando el edificio. Está genial porque te
cuentan todos los detalles del proyecto.
Después de la visita fuimos a conocer el centro de Avilés, que es pequeñito pero muy bonito, y comimos en Tierra Astur, muy típico en Asturias. Comimos genial a pesar de ser un sitio turístico, nos lo recomendó mucha gente de allí, y me gustó mucho como está ambientado.

went to spend some days in Gijón to see my friend Esther and I could not go to
Avilés to see Oscar Niemeyer's only work in our country.
Oscar
Niemeyer is an important Brazilian architect, follower of Le Corbusier, known
for building the city of Brasilia. He is an architect that I like very much for
his social principles, which are reflected in his buildings.
I
really liked the Niemeyer center, it's like a space of light and serenity in
the middle of the chaos of the city. It was a very residual area by the sea
that was cleaned and adapted for the construction of the center and has greatly
improved its environment.
The
center has three buildings on a white esplanade, the wave-shaped auditorium,
the tree-shaped tower and the mountain-shaped exhibition hall.
What
I liked the most is the detail of the stage in the auditorium, it works for the
indoors space as a normal scenario (when you are there the space is super special)
and also the background, which is the red exterior wall, rises and becomes an
outdoor stage looking to the plaza for concerts and outdoor events.
You
have to visit it and if you can do it don’t miss the guided tour explaining the
building. It's great because they tell you all the details of the project.
After the visit we went to have
luch at Tierra Astur, a very typical restaurant in Asturias, and we loved it,
we ate great and I liked it a lot as it was set.
